Anna Lopez is a School Board Director, education advocate, and community leader who has spent more than two decades fighting for public institutions that work for everyday families.
Anna’s path to public service was not easy or traditional. She began her advocacy work as a young community organizer in New York City, where she learned firsthand how policy decisions — especially around education, transportation, and public infrastructure — shape the future of entire neighborhoods. Rather than entering politics for prestige, Anna entered public service out of necessity: she saw systems failing working families and chose to step in.
Over the course of her career, Anna contributed to and supported advocacy efforts connected to large-scale public investments totaling tens of billions of dollars in education funding, transportation access, workforce development, and community revitalization. These efforts included advocacy related to:
Large-scale public infrastructure and redevelopment projects, where community access, public space, and long-term economic benefit were central concerns
Federal Head Start program preservation, protecting early childhood education funding for low-income families
Public transportation access for higher education, improving bus service routes serving community college students
Major public education capital investments, including academic facilities and workforce-training programs
Teacher leadership and education reform initiatives, supporting improved instruction and student outcomes
While Anna was not a sole decision-maker on these projects, her work consistently focused on protecting public access, accountability, and community benefit — ensuring that large public investments served people, not just institutions.
After relocating to Pennsylvania, Anna continued her commitment to public service at the local level. She currently serves as School Board Director for Region 3 of the Pocono Mountain School District, one of the largest districts in the state. In this role, she has worked on:
- Long-term capital planning and facilities oversight
- Student transportation safety and efficiency
- Budget transparency and responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds
- Community engagement between families, schools, and local government
As a school board director, Anna is responsible for decisions affecting hundreds of millions of dollars in public education assets and operating budgets, and she approaches that responsibility with seriousness, transparency, and respect for taxpayers.
Anna is now running for Pennsylvania State House, District 115, because she believes the same principles that guide effective local governance — accountability, planning, and people-first policy — are missing in Harrisburg. She is focused on strengthening public education, protecting taxpayers, expanding access to opportunity, and restoring trust in government.
Anna’s life and career reflect a simple belief: democracy only works when public dollars are protected, public institutions are strengthened, and leaders remain accountable to the people they serve.
